Building and Artifacts
The Bucksport Paper Mill Museum is housed at the former mill gatehouse located at 4 Mariner Way in Bucksport. It sits at the entrance to the former paper mill. The museum contains an extensive collection of artifacts donated by former mill workers and their families. The space will also offer educational programs and events.
The restoration effort is being led by Wesley “Chip” Stubbs, restoration foreman, and Larry Wahl, restoration consultant. Much of the work has been done, but improvements will continue to be made to the building and exhibits. Beginning June 2, 2026, the museum will be open on Tuesdays, from 8 am to 1 pm, or by appointment by calling Chip Stubbs at 207-299-5291 or Roger Wood at 207-598-5741.
A pulp grinding-stone, donated by Lynn and Tom Moriarity and moved into place by Bobby Wardwell and crew, is now located in front of the building as the base of a sign.
Volunteers are needed to help with the work and to staff the museum in 2026! Please contact Chip at chip9516@gmail.com or 207-299-5291.
